An American supermarket chain owned by Southeastern Grocers, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. At the time of the banner’s elimination, supermarkets under the BI-LO brand were operated in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

When BI-LO came to us, they were already making their presence known in the southeastern United States with over 200 supermarket locations.
BI-LO’s philosophy of having low prices and high quality along with their excellent service was the key factor for why their customers continued to return to them.
Like they said, it’s in the name! One of their locations in Tennessee had started to notice a variation in shopper spending rates.
BI-LO reached out to us to see if there was anything we could do to help increase the amount their shoppers were spending with our door hangers.

The Solution
The Solution

Knowing that BI-LO’s focus was on the Tennessee location that was seeing this change in spending rates, Varga developed a strategy to target consumers in a 7-mile radius around the store with 25,000 door hangers. By targeting a radius around the store, we would reach customers within driving distance of the store and encourage them to make a visit.
Now to push them to make a purchase and what better way to encourage spending than to offer some coupons! Two different types of coupons were added to the door hanger creative. One offered a free box of cereals bars with any purchase and the other was 10% off a total purchase. Both coupons contained unique bar codes that would allow BI-LO to track the results of the campaign.
The Results
After the campaign, BI-LO was reporting redemption levels of these coupons as far surpassing the other forms of media they normally use.
They saw over 900 of the cereal bar coupons redeemed and over 1,200 of the 10% off coupons used.
BI-LO was more than happy about the campaign’s success in bringing customers into the store and encouraging purchases with the coupons.
